Life Is What You Make It - A story of love, hope and how determination can overcome destiny

"Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever Gods maybe,
For my unconquerable soul……" - William Ernest Henley

Reading a lot of reality rooted fiction these days, latest being Life is what you make it – Preeti Shenoy.

It's one of those books which makes you restless if you don't finish it in continuation! Though I didn't manage to read it in one go but every moment when I missed to read the book I kept on thinking about the protagonist and what exactly would have happened to her life which ended her being into a mental rehab?

“Aspirations of a girl”, should have been the name of the first half of the book. The story was indeed fast paced and seemingly just like any other love story. In the second part, the story hits the F5 key - its refreshingly different. Perhaps the only part which justifies the title. Deceleration takes place and the reader is more glued to the book than before.

Simple narration, no jargon, good pace and simple yet nice titles for each chapters. The book ends with a positive bang. An eye opener for all on mental maladies. It highlights on how some people who are perceived to be the brightest actually end up facing problems regarding mental health.

An easy read in the beginning actually turned out to be an acute and beguiling story by the end. More than anything else, I liked the narration. From words to the plot, everything held my attention from start to end.The book definitely deserves a read!
