An Obituary!

So it happened! The blue Antitank mine has finally met its grave. After 6 years of painful solitary trauma it will now rest in peace. Few years ago, the symptoms shown by it were enough for me to conclude that its end was near. It was inevitable that it will finally get an appointment with Doctor Doom. They say the year 2012 will be last year for mankind and for this blue beauty it actually proved to be true.

It was the big blue eyed star of its category when it came into existence.Just like the bose boson, it created a huge hype and it actually had the capability to carry the burden. Few months into its existence, It barely scraped through the cut throat competition, thanks to Murphy and his laws {inlaws maybe}. As they say, as age increases, brain power decreases but as a loyal fellow, always came through in the end, woohoo!

It was summer of 2006, when it first showed the signs of old age. It got multiple fractures in both hands, literally, few year after its thralldom.  But this old man had the will to survive and fortunately, few engineering books came to the rescue. With its flexibility queered, the good old young days came to an end [umr ka takaza]. Then it was more of humpty dumpty sat on on books, humpty dumpty had a great fall. Its kinship with the plastic rodent came to an abrupt end. Only with close physical intimacy with few ports could the fidelity be restored. As if the alienated relationship was not enough for this chap, it soon suffered from brain haemorrhage. An emergency panic call to the ICU was made and it was admitted the next day. Irony, In India you get a pizza within 30mins but it took 24hrs to get an admission to the ICU. Its strength dwindled everyday and soon life support systems were brought into place.

So it lasted over two years without hands and malfunctioning brain. It had to be plugged into a life support system for most of its remaining life. Without airwaves it failed miserably when it came to telepathy. A freak accident broke its fingers. Right when it had somewhat regained some of its glory, an accident happened and the sense of stability which came back over the years was lost again. Soon the engineering books gave up and this left the old broken chap disoriented.

Wrecked and dysfunctional, it soon became reclusive and was given a long sabbatical. After almost 3 years the sabbatical got over and in a matter of seconds it became clear that its final hour had arrived bringing with it a blast of lugubriousness. It was decided that the cremation will take place at a nearby place.

It was a diffident yet mean at some time machine with 40GB of HDD, 256MB SDRAM, Brain powered by Intel PIV, living on 6 cell LiOn Batter, weighing slightly more than 3kgs, two plastic cum metallic hands(hinges)

Request you all to please share a moment of silence in the loving memory of my AntiTank Mine - Toshiba Satellite A40.
