Non Essential Wasteful Shit (N.E.W.S)

When I was around 10, my dad gave television an accolade of idiot box and refrained me from watching it. Probably that’s why he was against cable connection but insisited on watching the NEWS (short for North East West South)instead. At that time, the news happened to be a monotony of facts and ardent information about current affairs-but was indeed informative. After almost a decade, the word “NEWS” holds its original meaning but pertaining to a slightly aloof context. It bombards with latest story (story mind it!) from the four cardinal points but these are essentially gossips in true sense. For instance, commisioner’s pet dog absconding,Amitabh Bachchan catching cold,a live coverage for 50 hours of a boy named Prince fallen in a pit (courtesy: star news, aajtak…too many to name) are witnesses to the drama effervescesing repeatedly every minute,hour,day of the week. After litany of similar incidents,it somehow feels that parents deliberately push their dear ones in open manholes/dug-up pits to seek attention as prerequisites of todays world have amended tremendously. The era of K soaps is over, now we all witness an era of gossips via news channels. The materialistic world demands essentially two things-adulation and admiration; and media lays the pavement to these “divine” goals. Media has undoubtedly laid foundation for expression, unveiling conspiracies that remain concealed under a façade of sainthood but the saying-“anything in excess is harmful” holds true here as well. Exposure of aforementioned futile tales in excess has given NEWS an entirely new meaning apart from deteriorating its essence. These days journalism seriously needs councelling before it becomes an object of mockery. It needs to redefine itself and draw a thin line of segregation between necessity and futility. After skimming through this grim scenario of media in our nation, am sure no parent shall endeavour to waste his/her pupil’s time on watching news…..well that’s what one calls a generation gap (of NEWS that is)!!

Ramblings Again!

Consider a situation where you are signing a pact with  chariness, lack of authenticity and selfishness. You might ruin, in fact poison the relationship even before laying the foundation stone. People with whom you are dealing with will have a hard time in the face of your  incredulity, they won't be disputed to rise to your level of expectations. Over the years, I've learnt one thing. O ne should prefer concentrating on the goodwill of mortals who are doing work with you. No matter what you do, where you go, you are bound to encounter those handful of people who will try their very best to disappoint to you but eventually you'll understand that is their sole purpose of life. One thing, which I've understood during PG course is the importance of an open mind and an open heart but that just increases the vulnerability.  Maybe, one should give others a chance to live up to our trust and others should not be on a hunt to try to cultivate trust in spite of knowing

And here it is..Century!

So, the day has arrived. Finally! 100th post of my blog. I struggled with what should be the milestone post! Should it be prolific? Idealistic in nature. Broad in scope. So, I struggled. Back in 2007, few of my friends were bitten by the bug of blogging. Somehow, I managed  to spend one complete year, protecting myself from being bitten by this bug. But then, in 2008, my immunity gave in and I was affected by it. Over the years, I've seen myself maturing and its direct impact is visible in my posts. What started as a fun filled blog illustrating some of the interesting incidents of my under graduation, recipes which I used to cook(I don't have a kitchen now, only 3-4 outlets to survive apart from the mess where I hardly eat) to feelings which I used to pen down, now contains rants, poems, videos, pictures and not to forget articles. I had almost given up blogging last year but this year I started again. There was this intense drive from within to go on writing and
