Smart is everywhere!

Two worlds - real and virtual. The real world is full of sensors - be it electronic or the five human senses. The virtual one, a building made up of humongous amount of codes - software which takes in all the data you feed it with, does some abracadabra and pops out some nice piece of information.

Everything which happens in the real world has a complementary action in the virtual world. If the temperature of your laptop goes above a certain point, the CPU fan automatically turns on and lowers the temperature.

Being Smart is the need of the hour. Japanese and Koreans have already taken a lead in the race of developing smarter electronics leave apart the real race. Samsung, a leader in the smart world arena, offers a variety of products in its smart portfolio - A television which offers sophisticated voice and motion control as well as face recognition technology apart from Gmail, Youtube and Facebook apps. Smart refrigerator, smart oven, smart cameras are other stakeholders of its smart portfolio.

Mobile phones, a category of electronic equipment which has seen a colossal growth in the level of smartness. From the basic purpose of calling and receiving calls to office on the go, the amount of smartness that tiny little handset has is enough to make a laptop jealous.  All cellphone manufacturers offers a variety of smart phones and it is this category which is and will be the lifeline for them.

Now consider this, You are driving, simultaneously talking to the co-passenger and all of a sudden a pedestrian comes in your way. With your attention diverted, you somehow fail to notice the jay walker. The next moment your car makes beeping sound with the picture of the pedestrian flashing on the display panel fitted inside the car. Or there is an intersection coming up and its a red light for your lane. An electronic voice in the most polite way says "It's a red light," if the driver was about to ignore a red light.

These cars not only receive information from sensors and transmitters installed on the streets but also transmit information to each other.  At present, there are cars which are smart enough to stop on their own, park themselves and swerve away from jolly walkers.  According to Toyota, preventing collisions, watching out pedestrians and helping senior citizens in driving will be the key to ensuring on road safety and hence drive growth.

Toyota has also developed a technology - sonar based sensors that help drivers avoid crashing while parking. The system not only tracks which pedal the driver has pushed - gas or brakes and depending on the situation warns him accordingly.

All these smart cars are in the testing phase and the success of these cars will need to be seen. Till then, Happy and safe driving.
