When silence is the crutch..

Sometimes, silence is the best way to console someone and becomes the greatest source of strength

The sunlight was as soft as a baby's skin, cool breeze tickling like a feather, elixir of life dripping from heaven on the Gulmohar in front of her.She was sitting under a thatch waiting for her friend. Just then, her phone rang. Regaining her senses, she noticed the number being displayed on the screen. An unknown number. Who could it be? Call center may be? She answered the call. The voice was somber. In another 10 minutes, it all happened. She was rated as the poorest performer of her prestigious team. Her spirits had a free fall. All of a sudden, the happiness of the surrounding was replaced by the lugubriousness. Expression of indifference and frustration devastated the smile.Facing away from her friend, whom she could hear asking innocent questions. She sat there, staring at the tree in front of her. The phone was disconnected, but she was still pretending to be on call. Expressive eyes, a name which her friend had given her. True to her name, her eyes conveyed a lot - anger, sadness and shock.

What disturbed her the most was her team mates back stabbed her.The credit for the work which she did was taken by few unscrupulous jerks. She felt like being dropped callously from a cliff into bare vacuum. Sensing something was wrong, with a hand on her shoulder and umbrella in the other, her friend took her for a stroll. Wiping her tears, he noticed the pretending mode. The eyes which always had a childish naughtiness were fixed on nowhere. She wanted to go back to the office but didn't as she feared that her face would declare aloud the frustration, which she did not prefer to disclose. It would botch the only brief chumminess which her team mates enjoyed during such a weather. She didn't want to put an insect in their pudding.

Grabbing up some itsy bitsy fake expressions, painting them beautifully on her face, she walked along. She talked and laughed for a moment without showing the signs of her fast depleting courage. Then it happened, she broke into tears. Poured her feelings out. Leaned her head on his shoulder. With raining falling from above, cars zooming in opposite directions, they stood in silence.
