The mask

Every minute of the past few months
You have been using a mask to hide the real you
Every night, as you lie in bed,
you always wonder about your existence here
What you could have done, what you could have said
Every day that passes by you try to help and be a ally
But day in and day out, you only wish it was the end.
Daily you put on the masking smile just to hide the droopy scowl

There are times when the mask slips off
The biliousness rises and you have nothing to be sad about
There will be those who don't know the truth
They are not meant to know the truth
Till today, the mask goes on
The only time I could think your mask isn't on
Is the time when the night meets the dawn
It can be possible that the mask will become the real you
But you'll just have to wait and watch
For it is you who needs to adjust the mask

  1. when a man wears two faces for a long time, he soon forgets which one is real and which is the mask: William Diehl,Primal Fear

"It can be possible that the mask will become the real you" expressed the same sentiment.

    very well written as usual

  2. You wear the mask to hide your innermost fears, your vulnerability. You wear it with indignation, you wear it out of fear. You wear it for so long that you grow used to it, and that is when you might begin to wonder that 'It can be possible that the mask will become the real you'. It's thought provoking. Good one.
