IC3 Day1
Day started off pretty early today.. 5am !!..thanx to the low battery signal of my UPS..lol my new alarm..hahaha !!I forgot to switch it off yesterday night.The first thing which I did was reading the newspaper.. see am a good boy,I read the newspaper right in the morning,so what if it was yesterday's paper..I read a newspaper naa :DThen again like a good boy,I went off to sleep :D "early to bed late to rise..makes maddy happy and wise" :D
As always,after the usual stuff and a very hectic driving reached college.Any guesses where did I go,first ? The LRC :D :D ..after spending 30mins or so,I left for IC3-2008(International Conference on Contemporary Computing-2008)..IC3 is better :P
Inspite of making it mandatory for the final year CS/IT students to attend the conf. only 8-9 ppl had turned up.The conference started at 10Am.Among the dignitries were Mr. Vineet Nayar,CEO HCL Technologies,Prof. Sartaj Sahni-University of Florida(UFL),Prof. Ranka- U.F.L,Prof. J.P Gupta -V.C JIITU and Prof. Sanjay Goel-HOD CS/IT JIITU. After the welcome speech by Dr. Kanwal Anil,the lamp lighting ceremony was held.
Following this, Prof. Gupta,Prof. Goel welcomed all the guests.Mr. Nayar,Prof. Sahni and Prof. Ranka gave a short speech.Btw according to Mr. Nayar JIITU's architecture and infrastructure is better than IIM-Ahmedabad !!
Next,there was a small tea break,in which the '8-9' students who were present got a good scolding from SG ..reason "baaki log kahan hai ?" and he went on saying "Jobs mil gayi toh kya hua..degrees toh meray haath mei hai.. dekhta hoon kaisi milti hai.. tum sab saalo ke liye compulsory hai conference fir bhi nahin aaye.. ab dekho kya hota hai.. I want all the 4th yr right here within the next 5mins or you'll face the consequence!!"
Anyways,the 1st keynote lecture was given by Mr. Pradeep Khosla of Cylab on the topic"CyberSecurity, Opportunities and Challenges”.It was good lecture(I didn't sleep :D !!).Throughout the lecture he was humourous.Mr. Khosla was also against Microsoft technologies and why shouldn't he be..afterall his computer which was running on Windows didn't respond for a couple for no. of times during his presentation.
The next keynote lecture was delivered by Mr. Prabhakar Raghavan,Head,Yahoo! Research.He discussed the changing world of web search. How web search works,How the search engines earn money,how the results are sorted and the new technologies and algorithms on which research is going on inorder to make web search more fast and efficient.Though he is from Yahoo,throughout the lecture he didn't utter a single word against Google or Microsoft's Live search.
After the lunch break,Technical session 2 was flagged off,with a speech from Sangeeta Mam.Two research papers were presented(pata nahi kya kya thei !!),followed by a ques and answer session.
The day was called off but,SG sir asked the final year students to stay back His words "Manish has something to do with you" !! LOL Fir kya..daant dia manish sir ne..said aisa indiscipline nahi chalega..promise karo "kal se koi DISCIPLINE nahi hoga" .. this called SLIP OF TONGUE/PAAN/SPOONERISM :D :D
Came back home..likh dia ye sab log book mei ..YES WE HAVE TO MAINTAIN A LOG BOOK FOR THIS CONFERENCE.. IT HAS TO BE SUBMITTED(acc. to Thakurji).. VIVA HOGA ..LOGO KI VAAT LAGA-e-JAAEGI !! haappyy log booking and Vaat lagvao to u :)
btw.. ye sab likh sakte ho log book mei :D :D .. nai toh as usual acche CS students jaise COPY PASTE KAR LENA :D

LOL :D I was also one of the 8 students, besides you :PAnyways, we all know how cool is our academic system and on top of that, our faculty.Lets see what consequences to be followed, as the NetBeans Karta-dharta has been added into their defaulter list...What a life!
